The project is led by Prof. Kiran Garimella, who is an Assistant Professor in the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University. His research deals with studying and developing solutions for the spread of misinformation on encrypted platforms like WhatsApp. Dr. Garimella has developed tools to monitor misinformation during elections in India and Brazil in the past.
